Last fall, news emerged that Arcade Fire were being treated to a documentary by director Kahlil Joseph entitled The Reflektor Tapes. Now, an online leak has revealed that this film is set to arrive in cinemas worldwide on September 24.
The news of the leak was uncovered by Arcade Fire Tube, who uncovered a brief announcement for the project. It reads:
Arcade Fire will release their first feature film, The Reflektor Tapes, in theaters worldwide on September 24th for a limited time. Directed by 2013 Sundance Grand Jury Prize for Short Films winner Kahlil Joseph, The Reflektor Tapes will be a unique cinematic experience, meeting at the crossroads of documentary, music, art and personal history. Theater listings and tickets available soon at: www.TheReflektorTapes.com
A trailer was initially shared via that mini site for the film, but both have since been taken down. The site showed images of live performances, along with those massive papier mâché bobblehead masks the band were wearing during gigs. This suggests that The Reflektor Tapes will be, at least in part, a tour doc surrounding the 2013 album Reflektor.
Stay tuned for the trailer to go back online.
