“Hitler Reacts to the 2015 Polaris Music Prize Shortlist” (parody video) If you’ve been following Twitter in recent months, you might have caught wind of the grassroots campaign in support of B.A. Johnston‘s run for the Polaris Prize. The #shortlistBA movement ultimately failed and Shit Sucks was passed over, but it has now spawned a hilarious Hitler spoof.
This is the latest adaptation of a meme that has been around for years, in which jokesters add their own subtitles to a scene from the 2004 movie Downfall. Thanks to this cheeky edit posted on YouTube by Halifax band Windom Earle, we can now watch the Nazi dictator rant and rave about how Johnston is a hard-working road warrior who deserved to make the short list. He even has a debate with an officer about the argument that Polaris is not a lifetime achievement award and should be about the merit of an album alone.
Check it out below. Be sure to watch all the way to the end for the laugh-out-loud glimmer of hope Hitler offers at the end.
